Slugs and snails can be troublesome pests for cannabis plants. They leave behind a trail of slime on the leaves and create holes with scalloped edges, often mistaken for caterpillar damage. These nocturnal invaders primarily target the tender leaves and buds of the plants, posing a threat to their health and growth. Their damage can be quite extensive if their numbers increase.

Cause of Issue
◉ Slugs and snails are attracted to the garden environment due to favorable conditions and the presence of vegetation. ◉ They tend to appear in spring, before other pests become prevalent.
Symptoms
◉ Large holes in leaves and buds, often with scalloped edges. ◉ Silvery slime trails on damaged leaves or on the ground near the plants. ◉ Complete consumption of seedlings, leaving only the stem.
Corrective Actions
◉ Encourage natural predators like toads, frogs, and beetles in your garden as they consume slugs and snails. ◉ Use physical barriers such as lime, eggshells, Diatomaceous Earth, or sawdust to create circles around plants. ◉ Set up beer traps by mixing flour with stale beer or alternative liquids to attract and trap slugs and snails. ◉ Regularly collect slugs and snails manually, particularly during nighttime or damp days. ◉ Place a saucer of salt to kill slugs and snails. ◉ Consider using wire coiled around the base of plants as a deterrent for slugs. ◉ Remember, employing a combination of these strategies can help effectively manage and minimize the damage caused by slugs and snails to your cannabis plants.
